Look out Nutella…’To imitate is to create’ and peanut butter maker Jif is clearly taking those words to heart.
Nutella has been dominating the hazelnut spread market since it was created in the 1940s. I remember trying Nutella in elementary school after seeing some kid with chocolate all over his hands and face…the only place you could buy a jar back then was at an Italian specialty store.
Now the rich, chocolaty, not so low calorie hazelnut spread is everywhere, but competition is on its way.
Jif is not only planning on launching a chocolate hazelnut spread, much like Nutella, but they will also release a mocha cappuccino hazelnut spread.
Both of Jif’s new hazelnut spreads have similar nutritional makeup. Each flavor will run you nearly 230 calories and 14 grams per serving, and only net you 2 grams of protein…nobody said deliciousness was going to be good for you.
